Target Life Campus, Centurion

Target Life is a company that provides gap-year training and housing for young adults. They are fathered by the Lewende Woord church in Brummeria, Pretoria. The brief calls for a large 300 seat auditorium with full wheelchair access. Attached to the auditorium there are training classes, offices, sound studio, ablutions and restaurant/coffee shop. The design is inspired by the vibrance and hope of youth.

The use of colour is critical throughout the design and forms a built pallet. The architecture is engaging and playful with protruding and overhung elements that mirror stacked blocks. The client also wanted student housing on the site with courtyards where activities and interaction is promoted. All areas on the site are used be it parks or obstacle courses, the site is a living campus where creativity is stimulated through the colourful surrounding architecture and landscaping.
